深被何佐芝先生慷慨助人之心感動的前AM864節目主持Aileen Bridgewater 女士
It’s my pleasure and privilege to pay tribute to Mr. George Ho whose life we celebrate. I hosted Commercial Radio’s English daily talk show for 14 years in the late 70’s and 80’s, and during those years, I was greatly supported by Mr. Ho. Three charities arose from listeners’ calls to the programme: the Hong Kong Kidney Patients Trust Fund, the Spare and New Toy Appeal for children living in institutions, and Helping Hand for the destitute elderly which today has seven homes in Hong Kong, one in China, and also a holiday centre in beautiful ground under the Ma On Shan Mountain. To get these going took a tremendous amount of expensive airtime, George Ho was unstinting in his support and even gave generously himself.
When I have a criminal libel suit over my head, he protected me until the case was dismissed. And upon the untimely death of a colleague, he took on the wife’s financial commitments upon himself for many years until the three children grew up.
There are many stories of the compassionate, generosity and loyalty of this special man, and I’m very happy to join in this tribute as his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
